Noj’s Sweet and Spicy Meatballs
Here are two new recipes to make up for my loooooong absence from blogging.
1 bottle (16 oz) Heinz 57 spicy sauce
1 jar (20 oz) grape jelly
1 lb extra lean ground beef
1 slice bread, broken into crumbs
1 tsp. salt
Cooking oil
Empty bottle of Heinz sauce and jar of jelly into a large sauce pan. Heat on medium, stirring frequently. Simmer while meat is cooking. Mix meat, bread crumbs and salt in a mixing bowl. Roll into 1 inch balls. Put cooking oil in a large skillet, to coat, and heat to medium. Add meat balls, gently rolling constantly until all sides are cooked. Remove meat balls with a slotted spoon and add to simmering sauce. Simmer for 15 more minutes.
Banana’s Notes:
We had this dish as the main part of dinner one night. The next day for lunch, I heated the left-overs with cooked spaghetti noodles. Both are exciting and unique flavors. This is one of Noj’s old family recipes. He remembers his dad making it when he was a boy.

This sounds really good. I want to try it sometime!
I found out that the old family recipe actually calls for Heinz Spicy Ketchup. This is a product that is hard to find (Heinz might not make it, anymore), so we just substituted the spicy steak sauce. Noj says if you get the right ratios, it tastes like he remembers it.
